Christmas Masses can be overwhelming for many people. Many guests are visiting family, space can be limited, and there can be many distractions for those who prefer a quieter setting to enjoy the beauty of a quieter, more solemn Christmas Mass. The 5:00 PM Christmas Day Mass is for those who want something along those lines, something less chaotic than the morning Masses.
No organ music will be played, but we will do some singing on our own. We will also be doing Vespers (Evening Prayer) with the Mass. If you have never done Mass this way, then this will be a unique opportunity to try something new. Booklets will be provided, and I will explain how it works before Mass begins. It is the same method for those who have taken part in Mass with Lauds (Morning Prayer) on the First Saturday morning.
Maybe you'd like to sleep in a bit on Christmas morning, or perhaps you have a more open schedule Christmas Day with no set plans, or you are working throughout the day. This Mass might be for you.
Please sign up for this Mass so I can get a headcount of the booklets to be made. You can sign up below, or call or email the office if you plan to attend. We'd love to have you join us!
Please feel free to spread the word to other Catholics in our area who usually do not attend our church. Let them know that our parish will offer a 5 p.m. Mass on Christmas Day.
