Can You Stay One Hour With Me?
The "Night Watch" or "Gethsemane Watch" is the tradition of adoring Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament on Holy Thursday into Good Friday morning to recall how Jesus invited his apostles to stay with him while he prayed. This beautiful custom helps us reflect on Jesus suffering and invites us to console Him during His great agony.

Holy Thursday's Mass begins the Easter Triduum. Immediately following the Mass there will be a procession in which the Blessed Sacrament will be carried through the church to a place of repose prepared in the Father Moriarty Center. The ciborium is placed in the tabernacle and the door is closed, but our Lord is there. Will you stay and console Jesus in His great suffering? This small act of love for our Lord can have a great impact on us personally as we meditate on Jesus in the garden preparing Himself to suffer for our sins.Could you not watch one hour?”

St. John the Evangelist Church will hold an all-night vigil of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Holy Thursday evening into Good Friday morning. We will begin after the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Thursday, April 17th and conclude at 9:30 AM on Friday, April 18th, Good Friday, in the Fr. Moriarty Center. The door will remain locked for the security of our parishioners.We will need at least two people for each hour.
